Songs About Shoes: Lace it Up, Turn it Up !
Share
We spend a lot of our time thinking about laces, so it was only a matter of time before we started thinking about the songs too. Here's our personal playlist of songs about shoes, walking and feet, the tracks we have on repeat in the workshop while we're tying bows and packing orders. This isn't a definitive ranking, just our own favourites, and we'd love to hear yours too.
We've put all of these together in one Spotify playlist so you can listen while you browse, work, or lace up your own favourite pair. Lace it up and Turn it up.

Classic & Feel-Good
Blue Suede Shoes - Elvis Presley. The song that started it all for shoe-themed music, a rock and roll classic about a man who is fiercely protective of his favourite footwear. You simply cannot have a shoe playlist without it.
These Boots Are Made for Walkin' - Nancy Sinatra. A 1960s anthem of independence and attitude, all delivered with a confident strut. Six decades on, it still has exactly the same swagger.
Walking on Sunshine - Katrina and the Waves. Pure joy from the first note. If you need a song to lift your mood while you're lacing up for the day, this is it.
500 Miles (I'm Gonna Be) - The Proclaimers. A Scottish classic and an absolute must for our list. A song about going the distance for someone you love, which feels rather fitting for a pair of laces that are going to clock up plenty of miles with you.
Walk This Way - Run-DMC and Aerosmith. The legendary mash-up that brought rock and hip-hop together, with a title that's become a phrase in its own right.
Footloose - Kenny Loggins. The ultimate "kick off your shoes and dance" song, with an energy that makes it impossible to sit still.
These Old Shoes - Deer Tick. A quieter, more reflective one for the list, a song about the comfort and familiarity of something well worn in.
Pop & Party
Boogie Shoes - KC and the Sunshine Band. Disco perfection. A song that exists purely to get you onto the dance floor in your best pair.
Shoes - Shania Twain. A light, fun celebration of fashion and feeling good in what you're wearing, with all the confidence Shania does best.
Goody Two Shoes - Adam Ant. New wave with a wink, a song that plays with the idea of being seen as too well-behaved, wrapped up in one of the catchiest choruses of the 1980s.
In These Shoes? - Kirsty MacColl. Witty, playful and full of character, this one tells a string of stories about a woman who is absolutely not changing her footwear for anyone.
Dancing Shoes - Arctic Monkeys (feat. version). A great one for anyone who wants their playlist to feel a little more current alongside the classics.
New Shoes - Paolo Nutini. A genuinely cheerful little song about the simple, uncomplicated joy of a brand new pair, something we can definitely get behind.
Soul, Funk & R&B
Diamonds on the Soles of Her Shoes - Paul Simon. A genuinely beautiful piece of songwriting from the Graceland album, blending South African choral sounds with one of the most memorable shoe lyrics ever written.
Walking in Memphis - Marc Cohn. Soulful and atmospheric, a song about a journey that happens to have walking right there in the title.
Just Walk in My Shoes - Gladys Knight & the Pips. A classic slice of Motown-era soul, asking for a little empathy and understanding, one step at a time.
Funky Sneakers - Willie Bobo. A brilliant, lesser-known funk instrumental that deserves far more attention than it gets. Perfect background music for a playlist like this.
Modern & Crossover
Red High Heels - Kellie Pickler. A country pop hit about getting dressed up and stepping out, with just the right amount of attitude.
No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problem - Kenny Chesney. Laid-back, sunny and easygoing, the song equivalent of kicking your shoes off altogether for a while.
Walking Shoes - Mali Music. A more recent addition, using the idea of putting your walking shoes on as a metaphor for chasing down your goals.
These Boots Are Made for Walkin' (various covers). A song so good it's been reinterpreted again and again over the decades, each version bringing something a little different to that same confident strut.

We've put all of these together in one place so you can listen while you browse, work, or lace up your own favourite pair.
